Mend Sears Craftman Starting Tractor Start

Problems starting Lawn tractor (Sears Craftman)?

When I push the Clutch/break pedal down it won't start until I get the pedal in just the right position. Sometimes I can't find the right spot until I kick the pedal down real hard and release it fast about a dozen times. It's a real pain for my wife to start and she does all the mowing.
