How do i fix my emachines T6536?

I am having problems. My computer was working fine and one day just stopped working. The monitor keeps saying "no connection" even though the computer is on and all cables are plugged in. At first i thought it was the monitor, but i connected it to another computerand it worked out fine. So, the problem is the computer. Anyone know how to fix it? Please help. thank you.

I don't know if this makes a difference for the "overheating" response, but we're having this exact experience with our emachine T6536. We have to hold down the "on" button to turn the computer off, then unplug it, plug it back in, and then it will start. Obviously it's not acceptable for us to have to do this, so I'd like a more permanent fix.

hi its possible that the contact between the cpu and the heat sink have been seperated. this can sometimes happen when they over heat causing the gel that creats the seal between the cpu and the heatsink to melt... if you have alittle knowledge you can check this out and replace the gel. also was the fan working overtime before it went off.. this is a good sign of an over heating cpu. answerback to triple h if you want more info ok..
