Hoover Performa Plus tumble dryer Mod PPC160-80 not heating up?

How do I fix my Hoover tumble dryer Mod PPC160-80. The filter clean light will not go out even though it has been cleaned and the heater not coming on but the drum is turning.
There does not seem to be a reset anywere and I've tried to get a thermostat kit thinking this to be the problem but have been informed you can't get one for this model? If this is so are there any alternatives besides buying the heater with the thermostats.
