HOW DO I FIX MY ROTOTILLER?

1. Go to http://www3.sears.com/
2. Enter your model number & Go
3. Click Continue & select 'Engine'

On mine is the tines turn and actually dig until you get 2-3 inches deep then they slow to a halt. I think the rotor (round disc) below the engine is what is worn out on mine. It basically is a clutch plate. I am going to order that tonight. I'll let you know if that does it.

Here's the rest of my story.
The small engine repair shop called around, found out this tiller has a trans. assy. available for $80. Not a cheap, but a lot cheaper, fix.
So, hopefully, you can do something similar.

Seems you and I have the same problem with the same Craftsman model.
When I checked with Sears parts, they wanted $180 for a complete transmission assy.

So, I took the trans. assy. off, split the case, and found that the gear on the tine shaft was stripped. Bits of metal in the grease and housing. So, now I know that the engine and drive are OK, but that gear needs to be replaced. That's as far as I got today (5/19). I hope to find a way to make this a relatively easy fix, but don't know where/how yet. If you have any answers, let me know..I'll do the same.
