Mend Sears 971.270930 Lawn Tractor Craftsman Engine

How do I fix my Sears Craftsman 20 hp 42" lawn tractor # 971.270930?

It hunts for gas at low and high speed. It loops (up and down). Sometime it works fine. If I pull the choke out it starts running better for a while then I have to push it back in to keep it running. This thing is driving me crazy.

This problem is due to trash in your Carb jet. remove the carb bowl and clean your jets. this usually takes care of the problem which is very common on these mowers

Searching is usually caused by a clogged fuel circuit in the carb. Cleaning it requires a total tear down. A rebuild kit is needed to do it correctly.
