Having had the aggro of the gear stick shearing off of the in cab housing ' then removing the dash panels above it and where the gear stick sticks out of ' panel with the hole for it ' panel ' i looked inside ' and the PIN THAT YOU PUT THE END LOOP OF THE GEAR CABLE ONTO ' HAS A PIN HOLE FOR AN E CLIP ' AND THE CABLE BUSH AT THAT END UPON LOOKING ' IS A TWO PIECE BLACK BUSH ' AND NOW I KNOW WHY THE SLOPPY MOVEMENT WAS HAPPENING " THE BUSH INSIDE SURFACE THAT GOES AROUND THAT PIN IS A NYLON SURFACE ' SO IT WEARS ' THEN YOUR CABLE SLIPS ' AS DOES THE E CLIP ' SO TO BE HONEST THE BEST REPLACEMENT BUSH FOR THAT PIN IS A FEBI BILSTEIN 19953 ' IT IS 8.9MM INSIDE DIAMETER ' 17 mm outside diameter ' and 7 mm height ' the topran ones are ivory coloured and they definitely are not as good 'some online stuff confirms they can wear out well faster ' so as i have a replacement housing and stick attached ' i will need 3 ' thats 3 of the febi bilstein 19953 bushes ' when i put the replacement in ' some garage said ' gaffa tape on the pin ? ' nope would just let it slip and wear ' so will be ordering those bushes ' 3 of them ' and will be replacing grar transmission housing detent springs x 3 as well as the springs wear and get weaker the more mileage you do in the van ' the upgraded ones you get from Cooldog ' about £20 maximum ' but are stronger ' also when putting the replacement housing in the cab - i will use a Allum key to put thru the holes to keep the housing in neutral ' and undo the llock nuts of the cables on the transmission housing a little ' so that after re attaching the gear cable ends to the cab housing fitting points with new bushes at both ends of both cables ' i can then adjust the cable lengths so they are as correct as poss ' u may need a cd service and repair manual for the maxus 2006 van for more in depth getting your head round how it should go and what linkages do ' etc ' the cd manual is from REMOBILISE ' £ 20 ON CD '

sloppy gear lever ? yes on LDV Maxus van 2006 vans this does happen , i have drained gearbox oil and refilled it with correct oil, tightened both drain and fill plugs or bolts to the settings in the service book, took for drive today gears still a tad awkward to change , so next on list for today is to change the gearbox detent springs for new ones, and also lubricate all the gear shift parts on the top of the gearbox in the engine bay passenger side, at the back behind the big air box pipe ,using wd40 and then oil which i will run from the top of the gearbox cables inside the cabin behind the gear shift lever , and see what difference it makes , will report back on Wednesday this week, july 6th 2025 by the way so you know it is current and not old

No they arent , what i do know is this - on the 2005-06 ldv maxus swb van, 2.5 crd , the gear cables have a RED marker on One cable and a Yellow marker on the 2nd cable ,
one is for left to right movement, the other is for forward and backward movement , in other words, one is for selecting gear , the other is for engaging gears , the diagram you need can be found by getting the CD of the workbook service manual for the ldv maxus van 2005-2009 cost £20
