Mend Ford Transit Gear Stick

reversing light staying on?

my reversing light isnt turning off when not in reverse.my gear linkage needed greasing,and this has made the selecting of gears good but i have found a bit of broken plastic in the protecting box under the gear stick and linkage cables.i was wondering if this isolated the circit for the reversing light.this is for a 2001 transit 2 litre diesel

Ford Ford Transit Vehicles, Vans Transit Gear Stick

reversing light switch is at the g/box end of cables,disconnect and see if they go out,small pin on the selector shaft operates it,give the needle roller bearings on that shaft a lubricate also,bad for seizing up in there.
