sewing maching (pfaff 1171)?

hook timing out,check needle position in relation with hook ,remove covers so as to have clear view of hook point,turn handwheel slowly,at the stage where needle reach rock bottom approx 2mm on upwards stroke hook point should be just above needle eye,also check that outer race of hook is not moving with inner part,that would suggest position finger broken or bent,common on these machines as hook timing is not a quick fix for unexperienced people,the position finger is a l shape bracket on top of hook area and just below needle plate with 2 small screws holding bracket on lh side
