Mend GE Ge Dryer About Years Old

My GE dryer is about 13 years old?

It has knobs that I replaced with new ones a year ago and the knob for setting drying cycles is not working now. I switched the cycles knob with the timer knob since they are same size but still the cycle knob won't turn the machine on.What do I do?
