Mend KitchenAid KAWS404 Washing Machine Stops

My KitchenAid Superba Washing Machine just stops in mid cycle?

Recently during the wash cycle and now during the rinse cycle the machine just stops running mostly during agitation. If I pick up the lid and close it, the cycle restarts but this is becoming more frequent during a cycle. I have to be home and keep on checking on it. What could be going wrong?
