My washingmachine stopped working when i turn the machine on it makes a noise like it wants to turn on but suddenky it stops completly and i have tu turn it off and on once again. What can it be?

"Makes a noise" - is the drain pump running? Is the fill valve working? Is it filling? Does it sound like the drum motot is running? Does the machine trip any breakers? Have you recdntly turned the water off and forgotten to turn it on again?
