Mend Bosch Classix 6 Coming Heating Element

Why Bosch Classix 6 heater coming on & overheating before ON button pressed?

Why is the heating element coming on and overheating (bright orange like a toaster) when dial is in the ON position, but before pressing the ON button and starting a cycle. There is no problem when the dial is in the OFF. Recently installed a new heating element, which initially had been working perfectly. I have checked wiring and seems to be fine ! Any advice ?

Thanks for your reply, but the wiring seems fine as the two connectors are unidirectional! I did not make it clear that this is a condensing dryer, and so the heater element is cooled by passage of air.
I suspect the controller is at fault and is applying current to the heater before the dryer is switched on. Presumably, this is why the original heater unit failed - showed signs of overheating - was burnt out!

It is very likely that there's a wiring error - let's face it - it was OK before.

The heating element will require water to absorb the heat - the water will surround the thermostat that governs the on/off heating cycle. Ideally the element should have no power applied to it until the water has entered else there's no control - no feedback mechanism.

Power should not be applied to the element until water has entered.
