My miele T230c dryer has stopped heating. I have followed all the suggestions on this site regarding the thermostat, I have removed it, placed it in the freezer and replaced it but I am still not getting any heat and I can also smell a funny smell coming from the dryer when I turn it on. Any suggestions? Could it still be the thermostat just needing to be replaced or the heating element. Not sure how to check this.
Sometimes a spell in the freezer is not quite enough to reset the thermostat. After taking out of the freezer drop it onto a work surface from about 30cm. Afterwards give it a little shake near your ear and you should hear something rattling. Don't worry its not broken- its actually the sound it should make when its working properly. Pop it back into the machine exactly as removed and it should work. Sometimes the reset will only work a few times before you need to replace the thermostat. They can be purchased on line for about £20.
