how to fix tension?

i am having janome 808 tailoring machine, when i do embroidery thread is cutting. im setting tension as 5. for straight stitch it is not cutting. for jari thread or embroidery thread i have to change the tension?

yes you have to lower top tension and very sligtly increase lower tension.also important is to see if take up spring is operating properly,the most machines have a small pig tail on bobbin case that is used for embroidery
