IF it is that far in, you heavy handed mutt, you have probably pushed it out of the fixing. UNPLUG the m/c open it up, top might come off, couple of screw at back, depends on make and model, etc. WHICH you failed to provide. Refit the switch unit, using some strong steel section, as you managed to push it through once.
