Mend Zanussi Washing Machine 1200

Zanussi Jetsystem 1200xc Washing machine. Urgently help if you can please?

Please help! We have a Zanussi Jetsystem 1200 XC washing machine (F.J.S. 1225w), our warranty of 5 years ran out a while back but we have never had to have a call out or any repairs done to this machine, it has been an absolute darling. We clean it regularly and look after it well! However, in the last two weeks it has been moved three times by our work men who are refurbishing our property, it hasn’t been moved far though, just 7 to 8 yards. Both of the previous times they put it back it worked properly but on this occasion it doesn't. We switched it on its cotton wash programme, which has a 1200 full spin and the wash cycle is 52 minutes and displayed on its LED. However, it started making some funny noise (like a combi boiler coming on but 10 times or more louder!). When we checked the washing machine appeared to have stopped at 37 minutes and the washing machine had water in it, all though we pressed the 'pause/start' green button, in order to pause it (this button usually lets us open the door of the washing machine), it didn't. And the usually green light on the door is now orange/red, we are therefore unable to open the door. We are really concerned about this. We have rung the 'site manager' for our refurb and informed her of the problem, she has suggested that we just switch it off and at the mains too. We do not know how to proceed with this and our washing machine although nearly six years old, looks immaculate, is clean inside its nuts and bolts! Never had a problem with it, in all of these years, we have not had to call Comet (where we bought it and our subsequent warranty) nor Zanussi for any parts or problems. We love this machine, we are totally distraught. We do not want this refurb organisation to fob us off either, they have already caused so many other problems! We are seeing the site manager tomorrow morning 8am and so want to be armed with options. Any advice and also any Zanussi experts and/or lovers out there? Should we just see a solicitor?!

Washerman:

Thank you so much for your advice. You hit the nail on the head there. Update: The company's boss came to see us this morning! They were overly nice to us (:-0) Anyhow, he checked the U bent pipe, asked for a towel... and removed a cling film that was between the Ubent and the machines water draining pipe and resolved the problem. (They had previosuly blocked this, as a result of flooding our kitchen and have clearly forgotten to remove it when they connected the machine back!). Thank goodness this is now resolved, as we love this machine and it is one less thing to worry about amoungst all this disruption. All the best Washerman. I shall look up your website. Cheers.

interlocks have a secondary locking system which ties in with the pressure switch - the mechanism which detects if there is water present in the drum.
Try to drain machine by running the outlet pipe into a bucket.
Check the filter unit for blockages.
Disconnect pump from sump hose and check for obstruction in either item. Check the pressure switch -the system that determines correct water level in the drum. Its a round item about 3 inches across with several wires connected, it sits under the top cover. Its an air operated switch which tells the machine water has reached the correct level. Disconnect the thin rubber pipe from the switch and blow down through it to clear any blockage.
you'll have a hard time trying to prove that the move caused the problems - they'll argue that the breakdown was just coincidental - which is entirely possible.
