Pyronix octagon 2?

I have a old pyronix alarm that has started to give me problems, it's showing a flashing no six also when either myself or the wife try and set it it makes a continuous bleep and the tamper light starts to flash.

Money's tight at the moment so i would like to have a go fixing it, or trying before i contact a pro.Any help would be greatly received, the alarm was fitted to our house before we moved in eighteen months ago, we also know the code and have the instructions that say we must contact the installer.

New battery now fitted e manno, all ok but lost front door tone when opened,not really bothered about the two tone, it is nice to have it up and running again.
Thanks for your help, and it is nice to see that the advisors on here have a sense of humour as well as a serious side.

Ah no probs gts, i'am pretty sure that the panel only displays b for battery and also in engineering on soak test.but the tamper winks when you try and set it if the battery's buggered or not charging:)

Ps hope it is the battery though, you got me thinking here matey, nah pretty sure:)

Ok "how to find a battery",

Screwfix, maplins, B&Q, all you need is the battery details written on the one fitted,

Write the date on your new battery for future reference, and let us know how you get on with it.

Yep, turn power off or remove the fuse from the fused spur before you open the control panel, replace with the same amp hour rated battery.

Cover back on mains on, your user code input should reset it and restore order.

Been in the trade for many moons now, and I have the octagon on cd, can't expect me to remember everything related to your panel.

Well it's going to cost you the price of a new control backup battery then,the flashing "b" in day mode means your battery isn't charging/low or it's buggered.
