pyronix home alarm?

My granddaughter activated the alarm by pressing the panic button located in our master bedroom whilst playing.I have reset the unit using the key but the keypads are saying "call installer",hence the message we cannot use the alarm at all.

I have managed to contact the installer, using the information left with us but he wants me to pay £120 to come out and reset the system. We had a tamper issue some months ago and was happy to pay the £120 set call out fee,but under these circumstances i think it is a reticules charge.

Is there a way i can sort this myself?
Get the alarm working without having to pay this ridiculous fee ?

The alarm is a PCX 76I if that helps, thank you to all who can offer help on this.

This engineer has programmed it for this,it's not an overlooked default setting buried deep in programming that is easily missed.

He knew exactly what he was doing.

Agreed.....get rid of him.

I forgot to say, even systems with remote signalling that report to an ARC and therefore on to the police, the PAs are Customer re-set where the Alarm side of the system will be Engineer or a Remote Engineer Re-set, your guy needs to know a bit more about Alarm System and how they are/should be operated.

You are being ripped off, all PAs should be User re-set, no reason other than to extort money from the customer to have them Engineer re-set.

I've been in this business 40+ years and have NEVER come across a PA as Engineer re-set.

As he will not change his mind, get someone else to look after your system and change the programming to as it should be. Spend money elsewhere, teach him a lesson.

Have a look at your neighbours alarms to see who they use and change.

By the way, do you mean Pyronix PCX 76i not PCX 761? Can't find any mention of a 761

Ask your installer about a service contract.

This is what we offer like most installers.

All our alarm, fire and smoke systems come with a service contract that guarantees you 24-hour access to an engineer in case of problems, free call-out to remedy system faults, and an annual service for your system.

At the annual service, we will check the system is working correctly, repair or replace worn or faulty parts, and check the detectors are still protecting all areas if furniture has been moved, or office walls have been reconfigured, for instance.

Our engineers will never carry out any work not covered by the annual maintenance without your prior knowledge and full agreement.

Many of our customers have intruder alarm systems that were once installed by another alarm installer but have switched to ealarms because that company is no longer operating, or the customer has been unhappy with the service offered. Call us now to find out how.

If he can't offer you an annual agreement then find company that can.
