Alpha 240p boiler problem. ?

Hot tap turned on, diverted valve functions and presses microswitch but gas does not ignite. Pilot light is on. Also if I switch the heating on via the front control panel, neon doesn't light up on indicator panel and nor does the gas light up. A but of p,sting with microswitches, hot taps etc and it seems to work but with a 10 mon old daughter and a miss us who doesn't like me tampering with it...I need some advice on what the problem could be.
