Mend Hayter 375 Mower Engine Slow

hayter mower with B&S 375 engine, motor oscilates fast and slow?

The moter starts up OK, but after a few seconds the speed is no longer steady, but oscillates between fast and slow. Will changing the regulator springs help?

The problem is probably due to dirt in the carburetter - remove the float chamber bowl and clean, also clean the brass jet housing that secures the bowl - it worked for me.
