are you sure it is not the needle that is bent because if that plate as you call it move it means your hook timing is out. suggest you remove bobbin case and needle then turn machine to lower needle bar completely down,if you now insert the needle the needle eye should meet the hook pointwhen moving needle bar around 5 mm upwards. if not rather seek help close by before breaking the expensive hook
