First of all you CANNOT connect it via the ADSL socket on the Netgear, it MUST be via one of the Netgear's Ethernet Sockets. Here's how to get it working.
Connect to the Netgear via Ethernet, open a browser and go to 192.168.0.1. Login as admin, password= password. Now switch of the Netgear's DHCP server. Before you leave, give the Netgear a new IP address (but not one that is within the virgin's DHCP Pool) so that you can talk to it later.
Now connect the Netgear to the Virgin via Ethernet and Bob's you uncle.
