Mend Ceiling Light Fitting

i have red and black ?

i have red and black wireing in my ceiling with a twin cable metal light fitting which has been up for 4years and now i wish to replace it with a new metal 3 bulb lightfitting which has to be earthed is there any way i can earth it with out having to chase out or lift the carpet in the up stairs bedroom

Difficult to say without seeing it.
If the wires come out of a metal tube you should be able to pull an earth through or just use that.
If not you'll have to get an earth in somehow, or change it for a double insulated fitting.
