Mend Ceiling Kitchen Fitting

New lighting?

I just replaced some ceiling down lighters in my kitchen. The old ones had transformers attached, but the new one didn't require them. The fitting went smoothly and the lights are working fine. BUT I just turned on my dining room light (centre piece halogen pendant light) which is on a dimmer and it's pulsing! This light didn't have a transformer as far as I can remember.

So, it seems that what I've done in the kitchen has affected the light in my dining room. Is it just a case if fitting a transformer to the dining room light? If so, is there any type I should use?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

fistly the reson the new lights in the kitchen don't need a transformer is they are most likely MAINS and not low (12v) voltage. You can easily tell by the fitting on the bulbs thin straight wire for low voltage and like a flat top mushroom shaped for mains and is should say this on the box they came in.
As for the dining room light might be shear coinsidents the dimmer. Turn off elecs disconnect the kitchen lights making end of the live side safe then turn lights back on see if the dining room light still pulsate. If the light did not pulsate before then it can't be if you have energy saving bulb in it. If unsure advise get in electrician.

could be two things, its either the dimmer ,or you have fitted energy saving bulbs ,these cant be used with a dimmer, are your dine room lights two way ??if not turn power off at consumer unit, short the wires on ur dimmer turn power back on,if they light up ok then the prob is in ur dimmer switch
