Mend Peugeot 206 Garage Cost

Peugeot 206 Diesel 2001. Acceleration probs?

Have had the garage tell me that I need a new potentiometer at a cost new of £160. Am intending to sell this motor in a week or so and am not inclined to invest this much in a replacement. Any suggestions out there?
