Mend Amana DLW330RAW Water Washing Lid

Amana DLW330RAW fills with water, doesn't do anything after?

The washing machine fills with water, but will not do anything after. Had happend before, but we shut the lid harder and it worked. Yesterday my son stood on the machine to get into the attic now it only fills with water and will not do anything else. I assume it is not detecting that the lid is shut, but not for sure. I don't know how find out if this is the problem or not
