Mend Hoover HEDS668 Salt Dishwasher Topped

Salt light stays on?

Hoover dishwasher HEDS668 the salt light stays on even though I have topped up with salt a few times.
when the wash finishes I get a white film in the washer and on the Items
whats the problem?
