Vaccum Cleaner Cutting out HOOVER?

I have a HOOVER VACCUM CLEANER Model DM6185T 001
We use the cleaner above and it works fine for a few minutes then cuts out. Few minutes later it will start again - then the same happens - Any ideas please!

Are you pulling the lead ALL the way out,if not then try that first,sounds like it's overheating.
