Diplomat 8552 washing machine?

we have a diplomat 8552 until recently has worked ok, now we have a grinding noise as if metal is hitting metal, the last few days water has stopped draining out of the machine and smells, pump has been taken out and does not seem on looking to have any problems. Any advice please?
