Beko wm5140 washing machine won't start?

My Beko WM5140 washing machine will no longer start.
The ready light comes on and the other lights, e.g pre wash, quick wash and extra rinse come and off when their buttons are pushed.
When I give the Start button quick push as I normally do, nothing happens. The door is properly shut and all other controls are set to their normal operating positions. The Machine has worked faultlessly since I bought it about three years ago. It is usually operated about once a week.
One thing comes to mind is there was a general power cut two days ago. At that time it was switched on but not operating. No other appliance, TV ,Computer, Hi Fi system, which were all switched on when the power cut occurred, was affected in any way. They all just came back on normally. I did not try the Beko until today.
