bobbin thread does not feed through?

my friend gave me her janome new home model 4035 but alot of the parts are missing including the cover plate for the top loading bobbin my q is can the machine work without this and also the bobbin thread is not feeding through. is there any way i could get this machine to work as it is new?

Hello Yaz,
Would be wise to get the slide plate fitted, the thread not feeding through could either be not enough pressure on the foot or the stitch length not set properly.
