cuisinart DTC-975 BKN WATER PUMP NOT WORKING?

HOW DO YOU FIX A WATER PUMP IN MY CUISINART DTC-975 BKN? IS THERE A FUSE?

My unit had a foot pad missing. The coffee maker was "cocked" when I filled it and as a result the reservoir cracked. I didn't notice it, until the unit wouldn't brew at all. The power switch works and the brew cycle is started, but after 2 minutes it beeps 5 times and shuts off. The heater never get's hot. There is a clear tube from supply water inlet to the coffee basket, so I don't think the water is clogged up. The clock works, the power switch works, but there must be a break in the power lines to the water heater. I will test continuity this week and attempt to disassemble the unit. I can't find any schematic for the coffee maker, but those would help a lot. I have purchased another Cuisinart coffee maker but it doesn't have a thermal carafe. Any suggestions for proceeding? I can't identify any pump. I think the hot water seeks relief through the tube and out the top, I think the cold water in the reservoir, stops the flow of water backwards.

Ok, (although this happened on a different model of a cuisinart coffee maker, it may work for you)I simply removed the whole water filter strip (long plastic piece that is inserted in rear with water filter) and now it works! History: The water was always hot, but was not pumping through. The filter in the filter strip was old, so I removed it and replaced the plastic strip. It wouldn't work. I tried running vinegar and water through the system and it still would not pump. Finally, I tried the last thing I could think of...removal of the whole plastic filter strip. Not sure why, but it works! Good luck! Incidently, if anyone can explain why this works, I would be interested.

After having 2 of these units (which I absolutely LOVE) go bad after 6-months, I decided to fix it my self. The cuisinart gang will replace your unit if you call them. Already done that and I don't want to deal with it again. I took it apart and found that the 2-fuses (Sefuse, SF240E, 240C, 10A-Jet250V) were both blown.
I ordered 4 of them from an Internet, small appliance repair place. (Not sure what the rules are for posting other links) They took my credit card and the money then sent me an e-mail saying they were backordered. Dang!
I then went to the local electronics parts store and found a replacement, 240degree celcius, thermal fuse that looked exactly the same. I bought 2 for $1.50 each. I am drinking coffee from my fixed unit as I type! Hooray! Now for the bad news. This was not a fun adventure and should not be tried by the average person. I have lots of tools and a meter for checking voltage and continuity. I took pictures and will post a link to them including a description if I am allowed. I also must say that there is a thermostat in this heating circuit that may also be a problem. I removed mine and put the meter on it and used a soldering iron to heat it up to trip it. It did check out ok. So, if you have lots of tools, a Multimeter (ohm/volt checker), a soldering iron and know how to use them, you can probably fix your Coffee Maker. One other item to mention.....I live in Indiana, the heart of EXTREMELY hard water. I would guess that if I cleaned my coffee maker twice a month as recomended, I probably wouldn't have this problem.

In most coffee pots there is NO PUMP, the water is heated by a heating unit and this pushes the water to the top area where it is distributed into the coffee grounds.

It sounds like a heating unit has gone bad or a thermister which is on the heating unit that shuts off power to the heating unit when the water is done passing thru.

I would look at replacing the heating unit, this should come with a new thermister. Contact a small appliance repair dealer for parts only or repair.

I have this unit and I love it, I am seeking to buy another while I can get it. The best price I have found is 77.00 for a factory referbed unit, this I have found at iUnitek.
