Mend Craftsman Lawnmower Spark Plug Gas

Starts but won't stay running?

I have a Craftman lawnmower which starts but but only stays running for a second or 2 then dies. I have gas, oil, I have replaced the spark plug and the air filter but now I am stuck on what else to try?

If it is a riding mower, it is all controlled electronically, mine is doing the same thing. You have a least 3 to 4 safety devices installed. One under the seat, one at the clutch/brake pedal and a wire loop. I can add gas to carb. & it starts but dies even while adding gas at the same time.....I am looking for someone that owns the same model so I can ask them some questions....I have checked everything still no luck

i had same problem with my honda mowers ,drain gas tank, blow out gas line, shoot some carb cleaner in small hole in carb, and try starting it. try changing air filter b4 doing above,safe time. [ usually cause by water,or dirty filter].

I have the same problem with Murray mower. It starts when air filter is taken off and engine primed with gas or adding tsp of gas to carberettor but then dies. I can't find a fuel filter on it. any ideas?

the bowl on bottom of carb has water in it. unscrew the bolt on the bowl spray wd 40 then try to crank. if not then its the diafram on your carb
