Electrolux 6500 SR rug attachment keeps cutting on and off?

My Electrolux 6500 SR rug attachment keeps cutting on and off. It seems as if there is a short somewhere in the tube attachment.

Is there a simple answer to this problem?

my Electrolux 6500SR does the same thing. The metal tips in the wands get very hot and can give a bad burn. I believe it is in the hose handle and I am looking for a new hose. Did you ever find out what it was????
