the chip inside the key fob transmits a signal through aeriel (black plastic ring around ignition barrel) to the bsi/engine ecu. without this chip recognition the immobiliser wont let engine start. the only way around this is to replace barrel and obtain new transponder key and obtain code and get it coded in on a diagnostic machine.
