headlights dont work till horn fuse is pulled ?

John, I bow to your superior knowledge - I know nothing of motor vehicle electrics but... but... but... If the light cluster had a common eath and the earth connection were defective then surely the lights wouldn't come on at all. And does this mean that both NS & OS front light clusters share a common earth or do both sides have their own dodgy earth connection?

To get the lights on the Horn Fuse must be removed and the horn pressed - this is symptomatic of several wires in the vehicle either crossed connected or shorting.

Please argue your diagnosis in more detail - I am anxious to learn.

This sounds like a faulty earth from the front lights to the vehicle bodywork....its actually a wire connection from all of the lamp holders to the body that you are looking for. Often its a good idea to put a new wire in rather than to try to cure the fault from the old one.
