talbot express 2.5l diesel over revving?

my van will start revving high for no reason while stood still at lights etc..,what can cause this? many thanks

not sure what type of cold start device this vehicle has, but it sounds like its got a flame start unit that is faulty,and fuel is seeping into inlet manifold causing your problem.
