Mend Poulan Chainsaw Carburetor Fuel

Why does my chainsaw cut out?

I have a Poulan chainsaw which is a few years old.When it has been going about 4 minutes it stops and if I leave it for half an hour it will start again and do the same thing.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
