Mend Poulan 2300 Fuel Cleaned Carburetor

Poulan 2300 chainsaw won't draw fuel?

I had to replace the fuel line and filter on a Poulan 2300 chainsaw. I cleaned the carburetor and reassembled everything as it came apart. When I tried to crank it- nothing! I noticed that there was no fuel in the line except right at the base of the handle. Is this engine self priming or is there a possible blockage in the carb.

sounds like a air lock. put fuel mix in tank remove fuel line from carb put a rag around tank opening put air chuck inside rag around tank opening.to seal it. force air into tank SLOWLY! fuel should go through if not replace fuel filter try again.when it goes through put fuel line back on carb. next put small amount of fuel mix in carb, put full choke on, throttle opened up all the way. when it starts. fuel from tank will pick up. martin.

You need to get the air out of the fuel line. Try disconnecting the fuel line from the carb and loosening the gas cap. After fuel is running out of the carb end of the line tighten the gas cap slide the line back on the carb, and try to start the engine.

All I can tell you is what I have found out while trying to fix the same problem on my Echo 550EVL. I rebuilt my carb and it didn't help. Mine will try to run if you put gas in the carb. but will not suck it from the tank. I checked all my gaskets and intake manifild for leaks and still nithing. These things run on suction and for some reason we don't seem to have any. On mine there is tow hoses going to the carb. One to the tank and the other to who knows where! I don't know if that goes to the cylendar as the source of suction toi make the fuel pump work or not.
