Mend Poulan 1950 Chain Saw

poulan 1950 chain saw?

I am having touble starting my chainsaw.
The gas cap has begun leaking from the center of the cap (breather hole or something). Would this leak cause the saw not to start? Engine seems to not be getting fuel.

carberator need to be check for dirt and cleaned,the fuel line for open crack.also the end of the fuel to be tight fitted, not loose. the breather hole is there for a purpus,if it want to release fuel thru the breather hole , let all the air out from the gas tank ,i had the simler problem.the gas is not getting to the carbertor. also check gas tank for dirt and clogged fuel line.
