i have a internal door which is jammed shut, when i removed the handles the internal barrel is broken. how can i remove the barrel to get the door open ?
George,
Can you access both sides?
Can you access the side the door closes to?
If you can, carefully pry off the timber strip that the door closes onto and trip the catch with a thin strip like a paint scraper.
If its locked with a square bolt you've got problems.

if you have the barrel out you show be able to turn the lock etc with a screw driver if it is a locked dorr thats different you could also try the credit card trick or some thing bigger where you slip the card in pressing against the lock pressing it in enought to relaese the lock from the catch , good luck failing that hit it a severe kick , only joking !

1st of all my advice will get you in from both sides of the door! now kneel down to lock height and look at door frame depending on what side of the door ure on you should either see the backing plate on the door frame for the lock or the lock it self thru a small gap between frame and door now either use an i.d card or sumthing simialr and slide in to where the lock should be if u r in the right place door will puch open

Awkward one...you'll have to see if you can flick the lock tongue back with a thin blade or something, I'm afraid....I dont suppose you're so lucky that your hinges have removable pins?
