how to reverse the door on AEG T36840 tumble dryer?

AEG T36840
Removing the door and then swapping the hinges and latch to the opposite side is a simple enough task.

Removing the door catch is straight forward but how do I gain access to it to allow me to reposition it with it's attached cable to the opposite side once covered by the blanking plate?

Do I need to remove the lid and work from within or can the filter housing be temporarily removed to allow me to move the latch with its cabling?
