Mend Craftsman 917.273635 Tractor Mower Blades

how can I fix my Craftsman 917.273635 lawn tractor?

My Particular lawn tractor has a PTO switch to turn on the mower blades. My son tore the belt for the mower deck. I replaced it with the proper belt and installed it according to the diagram. Yet when the mower is turned on the blades begin to spin even though the PTO switch is in the on position. If I had a wiring schematic I could figure it out.
