Mend Homelite Chainsaw Start Gas

Homelite Chainsaw?

My saw will start and start running at almost full speed. It won't idle down. I've tried the idle adjustment but it has no effect. Gas is good, fuel filter clean, trigger is working. Any suggestions?

homelite has a rubber inlet boot that CRACKS. this lets in air which leans mixture and makes engine lean out/rev. you can get new boot on ebay but you have to dismantle saw a LOT. I KNOW I DID ONE not a job for the faint hearted
