Mend Vitra 2 button cistern Button Cistern Lid

How to remove Vitra 2 button cistern lid?

I am trying to remove a vitra 2 button tank lid, where the buttons are level with the lid. I have tried pushing both buttons down and unscrewing the outside ring, but it only moves slightly. I cant see any screws to undo. Do I need to remove a button to get to a screw or continue trying to undo the outside ring?

That much I can do - the whole assembly unscrews.
My problem is how to increase the water flow.

I spent so long trying to twist and turn the outside ring, thinking I had to unscrew it! I didn't realise you pushed down one button and slid the other one up.

The screw was too tight in the lid, which meant the toilet didn't stop 'flushing'..I didn't think it was that bad until we just had a *huge* recent water bill through, so I turned off the water and the tank was emptying and re-filling every 5-10 minutes - therefore using the equivalent of around 150 flushes of water every day just from the one toilet!

Thanks again..our toilet is a Roca, and their website is useless when it comes to customer support!

Thank you so much John (and Jane for asking the question!) - I bought one of those magnetic water softener thingies for the cistern and could NOT figure out how to get the lid off! Followed your instructions John and it was easy.

hello Jane

you may find this gets you some of the way

1. push down ONE button, extract the other by pulling [easing] upwards.
2. extract the second button in a similar way.
3. the large central plastic screw will probably be stiff to unscrew and you will need screwdriver with WIDE tip to remove it without damage.
