Mend Tank Problem House

How do i take the tank lid off my toilet?

I have a strange problem with both the toilets in my house. i have modern push button toilets but the tank lid seems to be attached to the main cistern somehow. it sounds daft cos eveyone ive spoken too says theirs just comes off no problem. im complete dumb founded with it

Try turning outside ring on your flush button anti-clockwise. Should do the trick.

On some push button systems, the cistern lid is actually held in place by the button itself. Just unscrew it (difficult to grip, I know) and the lid will lift off.
