Saga toilet cistern lid removal?

How do you get the lid off a Saga two button toilet cistern? It won't just lift off.

if you press down and hold town the buttons, keeping them down" now turn the silver ring that is on the lit, were the buttons go up and down in , anticlock, all the way out, and then you can take the lid off
