Mend Ford Focus Reg Problem Whilst

Ford Focus (Y Reg) boot release problem?

Whilst travelling, my boot release mechanism keeps activating and releasing my boot lid. The activation is completely random, with no obvious reason why. I have to stop and turn-off before I can get it to close. I've tried squirting some WD40 on the mechanism but it doesn't make any difference. sounds like an an electrical issue but don't know. Any guidance would be much appreciated
