Mend Electrolux 350 Vacuum Cleaner Smell

Noisy Electrolux 350 vacuum cleaner motor?

There was a burning smell coming from my Electrolux 350 vacuum cleaner a couple of times when being used. I changed the filters and there wasn't anymore burning smell. Since then, the motor has been noisy when shutting down, but OK when being used, and suction is still good. What could me the problem? There's a small hole in the plastic housing at top of motor under filter. Is it for oiling the bearing?
