Philips SE435 has an ICM Recording fault?

When the answer machine is on on our cordless phone it wont let callers leave a message & ICM Recording is shown in the handset display afterwards, & the worst of it is, the phone stays engaged until we press the menu button on one of the handsets, which is a problem if we are out the house for a while.
We have no problem if the answer machine is left off, but this is no good as we would like to have an answering facility.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i am having the same problem with mine as well. i have switched off answering machine but that doesnt help, it still goes on icm recording...im frustrated with it
